50 MILES (BLEH) & THE PASKENT BLUES.

Bleh really bleh...  I really had to drag my self out on the bike today and push my self again.
Riding while feeling Bleh is not fun.  Usually it take me getting past 7 to 8 mile to start feeling good.  It took me getting past 30 miles I felt a little better.  And I pushed my self hard again.  I need to know how far I can go if I'm feeling bleh.  And I did several hard sprints during the ride.  At 50 I'm tired, but not beat.  I could keep going.   But riding in the dark is not my thing.

It was nice to see happy cyclist on the path to day.

Well I made up my mind today, with great disappointment I will not be doing the Paskenta ride.  :(
Even if I could find some to drive behind me, who in there right mind what to sit in a car for over 9 hour and wait for me.   So that's, that.  Move on.   Am I super disappointed, Yes!   All the build up for nothing.
I'm not going to fight hubby, he's right.  If I have a emergency out in the middle of no where and the phone reception fails, I'm (F-U-C-K-E-D).  No one is going to come back for me.

So like every thing else I'll have to bring the ride to the park.  The Bidwell Paskenta Classic 100.
It's the secret training ride no one know about.  Only me.   LOL   You have to have circular logic to ride the route.

On 12/14/2017 Riding 50 miles through the park and on that day I was feeling great.
50 miles                Today  50 miles
3:46                                   3:30
13.5 average                      14.4 average
 22.8 max                           26.6 max

Dang for not even feeling good I got a bit faster.

I'm really hoping that by doing the long rides I can jump start my mood and get into a better on.  Because I'm in sloth mode and it's so hard to do anything.  But hell with all that said I can still ride 50 miles.

FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD (ICE AGE MOVIE)

Hubby wanted to see the route.    When he saw how far out in the middle of no were I would be riding he kind of flipped out and started to rattle of scenarios of what if.
What if your dropped and there is no phone reception?
What if you crash!  No one is going to come back for you and on and on.
So I still want to do the ride, but I have to do it in such a way that it makes my hubby feel safe that I'm safe.   The count down begins.  The ride is in 6 days. (dramatic music here).
So crap.

So here is a description of what we saw on the drive.   It's a beautiful, even thought it was overcast it was still beautiful.    Going toward Meridian there was lot's of mud on the side of the road as for thickness I could not tell, but mud is mud.    The whole road way up to Lassen Rd was ok nothing exciting.   As we turned onto Lassen Rd it was is was clear, but a ways in there is a big piece of lumber and what looks like thick pieces of splinter wood all over the road, not a huge pile.   The rest of the ride to corning nothing look that menacing.   The route is very easy to follow we had no problems finding our way.   From Corning to Paskenta was also very nice and smooth.  The Paskenta school house very small and cute. And as we entered Paskenta it's self we were greeted with a nice smile and wave from a lady tending her garden.   And yes the gas station and store are small.    This is 50 miles.    Turn the corner and up, and up we go.   The elevation map is very deceiving, because it show the road going down.  They aren't big hills, but more like big rollers of up and down and up and down.   We got to the gravel rd and the first thing that struck me is 200 to 300 cyclist barreling down loses gravel at 25 mph or what ever speed they do.   Holy shit how do they remain up right.  And when your in close proximity to another rider are you eating gravel?  They have to be, there is no way around that.  Minerals Al la cart?      Yesterday I forgot to mention I caught a beetle in my mouth the size of a big pea.  That sucker was hard core.  When I removed him, he turned around gave me the finger and flew away.

Now gravel is one thing.   What came next made my mouth drop.  In vision a mad man with a jack hammer taking all his rage out on about 3 miles of rode.  It was the Holiest of all roads.   I mean driving on it with the car was horrible.  The holes were deep, you know how a tree looks like after a wood pecker attack it for years on end. That is what the road, well what was left of the road looks like.  This cyclist are going to have chipped teeth seriously.   And what made us laugh really hard was after that jarring car ride. We finally go to smooth pavement and low and behold the sign came up said Rough Rd ahead.   Really, then WTF did we just drive on.   The rest of the rough rd drive was a dream compared to the Cheese Grater from Hell.   Yeah that road top the cake for the worst road I know of in California.  I'm sure there is more, but for what I know this should win a award.
Oh yeah my brain was taking in every single up hill turn and what not.  I could visualize my stages of suffering.    Suffer fest!
And did I mention the absurd amount a vultures.  What up with all the vultures seriously they even make there nest right next to the road.  Do they swarm to this area because of the riders?   The ones who fall behind and can't make it.  (.......I can read your mind I know exactly what you are thinking about me!.....)  No I am not going to be eaten by a vulture, I'm way too tough.   But have other cyclist fallen and that is what keep the vultures coming back?  Questions, questions and more questions.?

Well the rest of the drive was good when I got to Orland I knew exactly were I was and getting to River Rd was easy.    But I still down know were Giswold Farms is.   Go figure.

So like I said my 100 ride will be determined Wednesday, that when I find out if I'll have a driver who can spot me.  My hubby does not drive, but it will be guaranteed he will be in the car.

40 MILES & PUSH PUSH & PUSH!

Did I want to ride.    No.
Did I feel like crap.   Yes.
Did I feel good on the ride. No.
This was about the worst ride of 2018.
Why did I subject my self to torturer?
Well the Paskenta ride is in seven days, and I haven't really been pushing my self.  What a better day to push my self when I feel like road kill.  Yes I felt crappy, not sick crappy, but like want to lay in bed all day to shut the world out crappy.   So I pushed my self into a 40 mile ride to see if I could do it.  Heck if I get out on a ride some time and I have a moment I still got to ride home.  So this was funk training.   It was a amazing beautiful day never the less.   And omg there was so many people out and about the parking space at Horse shoe lake was so packed that cars could barely turn around, there was no parking.  And the cars were still coming.    Lot's of cyclist every were, mountain bikes, road bikes, toddlers on bikes.   The first 20 miles I did was reps back and forth from Wild wood park to Horse Shoe lake.  Then from there to one mile and back up to horse shoe lake.   The upper of my body was Bleh, the lower half was normal.    I made my self do several sprints and got up to 26 miles an hour.   So you could say this was the 2018 Crappy Flop RIDE.
I swear today all day I was seeing cyclist all over the place.  On the way to work I road up right behind Becky's group and waved hi.  It's funny how when you don't ride you spot ever fricken single cyclist and there all pointing your way and laughing.  So yeah seeing so many people out made me feel like a flop.

There were these two guys in hunting gear on e-bikes.  They must have been doing 25 mph and not peddling. Seriously!  Peddle, put some effort into it.   Oh god that reminds me in Fort Bragg just after I put my camera away about 15 people came across the bridge riding segways.   I was speechless.

I call this guy the Red Hornet, because he was wearing all red.  He looked like a professional. But he had a death glare that could kill a squirrel at a 100 yards.   NOT WAVE FRIENDLY SHIT!

I have a bike light, that I thought was dead, turn out the wire was not in the right area so I fix it and there is now nothing wrong with it.  So I attached to the back of my helmet, it really super bright.   I rode into evening.   On the way home there is a blind corner that I'm always really cautions about.  Well tonight I almost got run over by about 7 teenagers on bikes and skateboards.  Holy shit they came around the corner so dam fast I surprised that we didn't hit. One of the skate borders, it took every thing he had not to hit me.  I was stopped.   I was yelling at them slow down cyclist.   They had no lights or helmets and they were all yelling at me, I'm the one who actually stopped.

RAWWWW to BLEH in 5.6 seconds.

Well why the roller coaster.  Kind of sums up how I feel.   I'm not sick, but I'm not feeling great.  However I do have work.  Going to be painting on 4 full side glass doors, stain glass vines and flowers.   So yeah I should be excited and jumping for joy because this is a really big job.     And to make things even worst I'm been hitting the coffee really hard.   Like almost falling off the wagon with watching my calorie in take.

You could say I'm self medicating right now with the Coffee M&M's. And it's oh so good.

As for the LDS ride tomorrow,  my hubby talked me out of it and with this job tomorrow that kind of finalized it.

Hopefully I'll get off the funk wagon and get back on track.

15.7 & SO COLD

It was sprinkling when I took off, but not to bad, not enough to get into my speedometer or get up my nose.  But boy was it so cold.  I wore two jackets, and glove's.  I decided to hit the tiny hill or terror to do 4 reps to build back up to get better on doing hills.  Small bites, lead to bigger bites.
The ride was a bit windy and I was not going that fast, but other wise it was a good ride and it even cleared up and the sun came though.  On my way home about 0.2 miles exactly I heard snap.  Uhgggg a spoke broke.  Well it's been a while sense this happened, so every once and a while is ok.
Well the tire is at Sports LTD getting fixed, it won't be ready until tomorrow, so darn no the Friday Group ride.

Well Holy Shit as I was talking to the guy about bikes and he told me about free wheel bikes.    I chose life.   It has no break and one gear.  Yeahhh!   I'm sticking to my bike thank you very much.

This is a fixed gear, Free wheel bike.  Notice no break cables, or gears.   Mere mortals need not apply.

And this is called the Death Wish. The seat is optional. The person who can ride this bike and live to tell about it, is a GOD.   LOL  No it's just a bike frame.

13.54 miles & 2 Hours at the GYM!

RRRRRAAAAWWWWWW!!!!
Feeling Powerful at the gym.  Did a two hour work out.   I guess I made up for the fact that I didn't get my 35 miles ride in.

I got up this morning and notice my back tire was low, I pumped it back up and waited 5 mintues and it held.  I've ridden with tires that have had very slow leeks and every thing was hunky dory, this what I was hoping for.  So I headed out the to the meet up, while I was waiting for the rest of the group, only Christina show up. While I was talking to her my back tire when kaput. Uhgggg.  And knowing how hard it is to change I opted not to go and made my way to Sport LTD were I leaned that there cat is actually the one in charge of the staff.  LOL No.   They fixed it fast and I was on my way to scrap a window.  Ugghhh a customer called and I had to fly up to paradise to remove paint.  It's not as bad as it sound, it come off really fast.
I did 6 miles out side whooo hooo killer I know and I did 7.54 miles on the stationary bike.  I also did 3, 3 minute intervals on the Jacobs ladder, so 9 minutes total, I did some racquet ball, flip a really huge tractor tire about 7 times.  So a little bit of everything.   Other wise I feel great.  This morning is another story I was not feeling tip top, but I still when out.   If it's not getting rid of the crazies in the morning, it's get rid of the crazies in the evening.

14 MILES, GARMIN & 8 MONTHS!!!!!!!

As of today I have ridden over 3,096.78 miles in 8 months.  It took me a whole year from June 2016 to May 2017 to ride that before.  So know I have 5 month to ride even further in one year.

What a day today.  Yeesh.  I had to Fast 12 hours today for blood work.  So didn't get to eat any food until a little after 10:00, so that sucked.  I had one of my head aches, and it took till around 3 for it to finally go away.  But I still got a small ride in with hubby, only 14 miles and did not go really fast.  This is the second time I took the Garmin with me and no I still have not found a site to link it up with that does not want to own my soul.  And I'm still trying to figure out how it works. I've been on two rides with it and my average speed is 9 miles and hour and I only ever go 7ft?   So I've gone  0.000189394 feet?
When I went with the Wow group up to the Covered Bridge we were flying, I was the third person to get to the bridge, as for climbing we won't go there.   But when I check the Garmin it had not changed Average speed 9 miles and hour and 7ft.   Technologically savvy I am not.  Maybe I need to reset something.
Hour 1:05

 13.1 Average speed.

 22.5 Max

890 calories.

NEW CYCLING MUSIC DEORRO!

Deorro - Five Hours (Static Video) [LE7ELS]

What great music for sprinting. I like the build up, it make you want to go as fast as you can.  Then the music levels out and you maintain your speed and keep going and at the end is the cool down.

60 MILES & GREAT DAY

Decided to push my self today and I just missed the rain. LOL Got home and hubby said hey it's raining out side.  What!   LOL   Was going for 50 miles and added on another 10 miles.   I rode all over the place today out to the beginning of the Durham ride on Park Ave, to Skyway and I've added on a new area on behind Wild wood park.  So yeah today was a good day.  I felt good.

I'm not going to do the hill climbing on Clark tomorrow. :(  I need to focus on what I need to do for the Paskenta ride.    As for hill climbing, because I'm so rusty again I'm going to do like I did before start practicing on the Mini hill of terror as I like to call it.   Work my way up that way again.

I signed up for the 60 Flat Flower.   I want to do it again to see if I've improved or what going on.  So that is why I'm doing 60.

The last time I did 60 was with North Rim Training. Well I did half and half we didn't do 60 all at the same time.

61 miles, 3 hours and fifty four minutes.
My average speed was 16.1  and max was 25.
So yeah.  No big deal.  That Asthmatic Bronchitis really hit me hard.   But it's gone and I'm back.  And ready to kick my ass back into shape.

And I only got 8.58 miles left to get to my goal of 3,096.78.    YIPPY.   Instead of a year it took me 8th month.  And after I finish the 8 miles I have till the end of June to add up the miles.  :D

FORT BRAGG! FUN!

COFFEE CHECK!

COOKIES CHECK!

Spent the day in Fort Bragg and it was really nice weather.

As we walked into the coffee shop a whole bunch of cyclist were out side drinking coffee so I said Hi.  They were called Seniors on Bikes.
Here the group relaxing.  And check this out the lady in the blue parka and her husband behind her. There son owns Boradori Automotive and they've seen my window painting.  Small world.  WOW!
The head cyclist!  I forgot his name.
Coastal trees.

Cyclist crossing a really cool bike bridge.

Found a hobbit hole under the main road.   How cool is that.

A rock in the middle of a bike path?   ROCK UP!  I guess they don't want people speeding.

Oh yeah and there was a fire.  Two fires actually, this is one of them.   There was nothing left of the small house and it was arson.

After all the walking and exploring had Thai food.   Yummy.

NEW RIDING MUSIC!!!!

Diplo - Set It Off ft. Lazerdisk Party Sex (TheFatRat Remix)

I'm digging it right now with my stash on.

The Fema-beard.

This stunning example of hair is accented with a flower.   Move over men stashes, step aside mutton chops.  Women can rock with their stashes and beards too.   I'm going to make Stashes for women GREAT AGAIN!
