35.10 MILES & A HARD AND REALLY WINDY RIDE.

Wow what a windy day today.   The wind was knocking me around today, and riding into the head wind was a pill.   Some of the wind gust SE were from 20mph to 22mph.   No wonder.
However I still had a good ride and I got some climbing in.  Really slow climbing, but never the less climbing.

It was not terribly hot to day just really windy. Towards the evening the sun was being blocked by that clouds that was nice.

35.10 miles.   I knocked off another 5 miles so all I have to do tomorrow is 22.58 miles and I'll be at my goal of 1000 miles for the month of May.  Yay!

30.36 MILES VOLLUNTERRING & MY FIRST CRASH!

Wow what a crazy day today.
I started off with fall off the bike (while moving this time).   I was crossing the road into the park and there was a hole my bike tire hit, so were I should have kept up my momentum and kept going, instead the tire got caught and flipped me on my side and I slid.   Ouch.  The first thing I was thinking was is the derailleur ok.
This did not start to burn until just now and all I can say is ouch!  The whole time I was riding I didn't feel anything.
After I fell a really nice lady pulled off to the side of the road asked if I was ok and gave me some Gator-aid, that really hit the spot.   While I was trying to figure out what happened to the chain, it was a real mess, it flipped over on it's self.  Another really nice guy stopped and he helped me fix my chain.  He said he's worked on chains before, but he never seen this happen before.   It took it a while, but he flipped it back the right way.   Now when I say flip, that's the only way I can describe it.  The chain flip backwards and over.  (????).   I was so grate full I wanted to hug him, but instead I elbowed bump him.  It's what you do when your hands are messy and a hand shake is not possible.  You bump elbows.

I'm really tired here.

Well after I figured out every thing was A-ok with the bike I kept on going.   12 Miles in I was like I got to go home and take care of my leg a bit.  Something just told me to go home.   And on the way home going down Humboldt Road I road pass a odd scene a elderly gentleman was standing next to the curb across the road poking the curb with his cane.  I got not to far and it dawn on me he was having trouble getting his balance to turn around form the curb and walk to his car.  So I turn around parked the bike and ask him if he needed help getting to his car.   Of course he said no and with that he almost fell down.  So I quickly grabbed his arm and we slowly walked across the street to his car.   He really should have had a walker, but he didn't.   And I really got the impression he had a appointment at that place and he could not manage stepping up on to the curb, getting embarrassed he opted rather to go back to his car.  The guy must have been in his 90's.  All that matters is that he didn't fall.  As slow as he was walking and the way people are impatience in cars, one car going by too fast and he would have fallen.

PIE & DIE RIDE REVIEW!

ELK CREEK Elevation is 745 feet.
I was so tired from doing the PIE RIDE, my tired was tired. I was zapped.
Now that I can actuality form coherent mental thoughts.  Here is my review of the ride.  Here is what I have to say.   I am actually so glad that the first PIE RIDE was canceled.  I would have willingly killed my self.  And one of those three graves site we passed would have a marker on it with "Here's lies Susen who never got her slice of the pie"    It was still a gnarly ride, but I was able to do it.   I've been pushing my self, by doing sprints up mini hills of terror.  When I do my rides I do not stick to flat rides, I try to find as many tiny hills as I can and slam it up hill.   And it paid off.  What I was not expecting was the wind that really zapped my energy.  If there had been no wind, I would have probably done better.    The three last hills out were brutal,  I will confess that I walked the middle out of the hill then resumed my suffering.  When Christine's husband went by sagging for her, and keeping a eye on the other two guys, the thought did cross my mind of asking for a ride, back.   But why relax when you can suffer.  On the way there I was flying, the hills did slow me down, but I hammered it and did catch up with the front pack.
On the last few hills I was so tired when I got to the area were their were houses on the hills close to were the end was, I didn't recognizes the area and I was like shit, did I over shoot the parking area and am headed into oblivion?   When I finally saw the parking area I can truly say I never been so happy to see a fly infested toilet in my life.    Would I do it again? YES!  And the Pie was so worth it.  I got a half a slice from Christine, and it's the first time in a long time that I taste a hand picked berry pie.  When you grow up with hand picked pies and then tasted canned pies, there is a huge difference. Yummy.   Hopefully next time the wind won't pummel us.

30.15 MILES & CHASED BY A SPACE ALIEN

This is what the guy seriously looked like and he had the bike.  His helmet was pitch black, his expression was like a poker player and we both did a 3.3 mile sprint to Manzanita Ave.  WHY! in the hell do I have a competitive side and why today.  I told my self I was going to take it easy.
Well he was going fast but he was unable to pass me.  I turned off at Manzanita and circled back, I didn't want him to follow, but I still wanted to go the same direction.  yeah I was spent.   But as you can see by the look on my face that was fun.   I'm not going to say I Chicked him, because he was on my tail the whole way, well some what.   So I'd say we were matched.  Now if it had been a really good day for me and I was not gunning for 1000 miles, I could have kept going.   But like I said.

Well I got a surprise, and that was the closes to a wild Coyote I've ever been, he was resting right next to the fence, and I scared him.  He was moving fast, but I still got him on camera.   This was not a young one, this was a huge male.

Feeling good.

Ahhhhh :(  No clouds.

Did not do the Horse Shoe look today, need to stay out of the sun as much as possible.

Shade.

SPRINTERS HIGH

Yeah I'm taking a break. Pant pant pant.

After the sprint.
